Flue gas analyzers for beginners vs advanced HVAC technicians

Although flue gas analyzers use similar technology inside them across different price ranges, some are more suited for residential, some for commercial and industrial uses.

Today I will divide Testo flue gas analyzers into two small categories - beginner and advanced.

Beginner flue gas analyzers are more affordable than advanced but of course you need to take into consideration what needs you have and what job needs to be done.

Beginner flue gas analyzers

Parameters measured: oxygen (O2), carbon monoxide (CO) and stack temperature.

Purpose: basic measurements for residential and light commercial use. Not made for heavy industrial application.

Residential: designed for tuning, servicing and maintaining home heating systems, hot water boilers and domestic furnaces.

Light commercial: capable of handling smaller commercial heating setups and basic saftety checks.

Industrial: not intended for heavy industrial manufacturing, large power plants, or complex industrial flue systems which require advanced high-end analyzers (such as the Testo 340 or 350 series).

Advanced HVAC technician analyzers

Expanded gases: detects high-range CO, NO, NOx and infrared CO2 sensors for commercial spaces.
